Colorado Road Trip 2024

Day 1 - Sunday, February 18th

I loaded up my car with some stuff for Stacey and Doug. I piled my luggage in along with some food and whatever else I thought I'd need. I said goodbye to my parents and my cats before taking off towards West Virginia. My first stop would be the Quality Inn in Gallipolis, Ohio. I wanted to visit the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant the next day and my hotel was just across the river from there.

Day 2 - Monday, February 19th

I woke up, got ready and headed across the river to Point Pleasant, WV. I saw the Mothman statue and checked out the museum and the Trading Company shop next door as well. Afterwards I decided to head towards Cincinnati, OH. I wanted to go to the either the Newport Aqaurium or the Cincinnati Zoo. I went with the zoo. After that I wanted to head to Indianapolis, but it was getting late, and I wasn't sure what to do. Ultimately, I went to the Greenwood Park Mall, just south of Indianapolis, Indiana. I grabbed dinner from Hakkaido after checking out an FYE. Then I ran into a Box Lunch and Gamestop right before the mall closed. I remembered that Coldstone was near this mall when I was checking it out, so I grabbed some ice cream before leaving for my next hotel. I did some scouting using Apple Maps and thought Springfield, Illinois would be my next stop. I booked a room at the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham. I made it there around 10:30pm and ran into the Walmart next door before it closed. I was going to explore all the Abraham Lincoln stuff the next day.

Day 3 - Tuesday, February 20th

I woke up late and went looking for breakfast. I stopped at the Sunrise Cafe on my way to the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Afterwards I found the Abraham Lincoln Museum and spent a while there. I stopped at the Presidential Library for a minute, too, and then found Lincoln's Tomb. I started driving without being sure if I wanted to go towards Kansas or Nebraska. I decided Lincoln, Nebraska would be my destination, but I waited to book a room anywhere. I ran into an issue which led me to booking a room at a Travelodge in Lincoln, Nebraska. I arrived around 1am and tried to get some sleep but ended up leaving around two hours later and heading towards Denver, Colorado.

Day 4 - Wednesday, February 21st

I was heading to my sister's house in Littleton, Colorado. I stopped at a Dunkin' at 6am. Then I drove the rest of the way to her house, arriving at noon. We had lunch and spent the day hanging out at the house.

Day 5 - Thursday, February 22nd

We planned the start of our day to be a tour of the Denver Mint.  We drove there and got tickets, but had to wait a half an hour so we browsed the gift shop and walked somewhere to get me a smoothie. Then we came back for the tour. After the tour we went to a late lunch at City, O' City, a vegetarian restaurant.  We then headed to the Ogden Theatre for our VIP experience with the Silver Sun Pick Ups. We had an hour after that to wait for the main show to start at 8pm. So, we went to the nearby 1up Bar and had a few beers. Then we went back to the Ogden Theatre for the SSPU concert. Then we went home to get some rest for our Stranahan's Bottling Crew shift the next morning,

Day 6 - Friday, February 23rd

I woke up around 6:30am so I could be ready to be at "work" by 7:45am. We got to Stranahan's around 7:45am and started out Bottling Crew experience. It ended around 12pm. We went back to Stacey's house and got ready to go out to Lookout Mountain so I could take some pictures of the mountains. We stopped along the way to hike with Yuki for an hour. Then we stopped at the overlook so I could see the snowy mountains tops and look for some buffalo. Then we drove up to Buffalo Bill's grave and a gift shop there as well.  On the way home we stopped at a liquor store called, Bevy's, where I got some Sake. We spent the rest of the evening at home playing Mario 3D World.

Day 7 - Saturday, February 24th

Today we didn't have to get up early for anything special. We were going shopping for collectibles. We went to a 2nd & Charles, Vision Comics & Oddities,  and Mile High Comics. Then we went to Meow Wolf, a huge interactive art exhibit. After that we had enough time to stop at one more collectible shop that Doug just called Sangs? I can't find it online. Then we got dinner at a mexican restaurant that I can't remember the name of but Stacey said it was spanish for the colts or something like that. We went home afterwards and drank some Sake, played some Monopoly Deal, watched some TV and went to bed

Day 8 - Sunday, February 25th

We woke up and went on a walk to the nearby lake, I took some photos and we stopped for some doughnuts at We Knead Donut before walking to the Columbine Memorial. Then we went home, Stacey made breakfast and we packed up my car for my trip home. I booked a room at the Comfort Suites Inn in Manhattan, Kansas for the night. I drove out and stopped at a Sinclair gas station that had souvenirs. Then drove the rest of the way to the hotel.

Day 9 - Monday, February 26th

I woke up and ate at the hotel before going to a local place to try a cinnamon bun that was listed as the best in Manhattan since 1988. Mrs. Powell's was a bakery at the town center mall. I left for Wamego, Kansas so I could stop at the Oz Museum. Afterwards, I drove to the Courtyard by Marriott Louisville Northeast for the night.

Day 10 - Tuesday, February 27th
